Renovate America Named One of the Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance

Consulting firm Great Place to Work and Fortune Magazine recognize the company for the first time in this category

SAN DIEGO, Calif. March 28, 2017 – Renovate America, a leading provider of home improvement financing, has been named one of the Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance by global research and consulting firm Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine.

Renovate America ranked #22 on the list, which was based on surveys from more than 62,000 people working at leading financial firms. Employees at the winning organizations report high levels of trust in their leadership, as well as camaraderie and pride in what they do. An impressive average of 98 percent of employees at these companies say they enjoy a psychologically healthy workplace, with a similar share describing their organizations as friendly.

"Our employees take great pride in our purpose-driven work and in finding innovative ways to improve the home improvement process, while empowering homeowners to make their homes more energy and water efficient,” said Jamie Latiano Jacobs, Senior Vice President of People & Culture at Renovate America. “We know that this mission requires a team effort, so we aim to foster a collaborative workplace and to develop the whole person.”

Renovate America employees developed a set of core values, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and deep respect, which are embedded into the company culture. These core values are used as guiding principles throughout the organization, informing key business decisions, integrated into the prospective employee interview process and new hire onboarding, and captured in murals throughout the building. The company holds quarterly town hall meetings to encourage cross departmental collaboration, communication and team-building. Employees enjoy 100 percent company-paid health coverage and a generous 401(k) with a 4% company match and immediate vesting. They also offer an Open PTO plan for exempt employees, 90 days of fully-paid parental leave for new parents, paid qualified leave in the case of illness or to take care of a sick family member, and free lunch catered daily.

Team members at the Best Workplaces also hold their employers in high regard for the ways they give back to the community and the level playing field they create for employees to advance. This contributes to stronger loyalty among co-workers, as well as more robust revenue growth compared to companies that didn’t make the list.

“Colleagues say their leaders at the Best Workplaces are consistent in their ethics and take an earnest interest in their teams’ feedback when making decisions. This reflects the high level of integrity customers expect from a business entrusted with their money,” said Great Place to Work Executive Vice President Kim Peters.

The Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and Fortune based on employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work–Certified™ organizations.

Renovate America has steadily been gaining recognition as a leading employer – both regionally and nationally. In October 2016, Great Place to Work and Fortune also named the company one of the country’s best medium-sized places to work. The San Diego Union-Tribune named Renovate America a Top Workplace two years in a row, and it made the San Diego Business Journal’s Best Places to Work list in 2015 and 2016.
