Renovate America Named a Top San Diego Workplace for Second Year in a Row

Company captures third place among large employers in The San Diego Union Tribune's annual rankings

SAN DIEGO, Calif., November 14, 2016The San Diego Union-Tribune announced that Renovate America has been awarded a 2016 Top Workplaces honor for the second year in a row. Inclusion on this list is based solely on the results of an employee feedback survey administered by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. Several aspects of workplace culture were measured, including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few. With 619 local employees, Renovate America’s substantial growth in the past year moved it from the top position in the midsize category to the large category, where it captured third place.

To find prospective companies to feature, The San Diego Union-Tribune used print and online advertising to seek nominations from workers, bosses and others. From that pool, 1,153 companies were invited to participate and of those, 69 companies completed the survey. WorkplaceDynamics then ranked the companies based on employee survey results and divided into three categories: small, midsize and large.

"The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest. And oftentimes, people assume it’s all about fancy perks and benefits," says Doug Claffey, CEO of WorkplaceDynamics. "But to be a Top Workplace, organizations must meet our strict standards for organizational health. And who better to ask about work life than the people who live the culture every day—the employees. Time and time again, our research has proven that what’s most important to them is a strong belief in where the organization is headed, how it’s going to get there, and the feeling that everyone is in it together." Claffey adds, "without this sense of connection, an organization doesn’t have a shot at being named a Top Workplace."

Echoing this sentiment, Jamie Latiano Jacobs, Senior Vice President of People & Culture at Renovate America, feels that employees’ high level of satisfaction is rooted in the company’s mission-driven work and the sense of purpose people feel in working together toward something greater than themselves.
